Andrea and I went up yesterday and did an inventory of what is in the club trailer. It was sort of a jumble so I re-packed the whole deal and there now is a lot more useable space in the trailer. There were some leftover cups, plates, and coffee that we may be able to use this coming yr. Also there were a lot of unused rally packets. We wil see what we can re-cycle from them. We did not know that there were also boxes of arm bands left, and I believe we can use those.
There are a lot of rally pins (especially from last yr.) and T-shirts left that we could perhaps start offering for sale at some club meetings.
We plan to submit a detailed inventory list to the BOD soon.
We also met with the Towns Co. Chamber of Commerce representative and with Mike at BM. We discussed the contract and a few concerns with Mike. He agreed to allow us 4 complimentary campsites for volunteers this time instead of the 2 he had specified in the new contract (It used to be 7, then went to 4, and this time to 2). He also promised to take a look at the power supply shortcomings (like not enough 220 outlets and breakers that trip) at the pavilion. He stated that we will be responsible for all the trash pick-up and clean up, and they will not be assisting us this time.
Mike is drafting a new contract with the changes and with Wes's name removed as acting Pres. We should have that in a day or two for review and signing.
Dave Coon is assisting us with developing the rally budget and that is in progress. Dave is also assisting in updating our system for tracking and documenting money at the rally.
We also plan to have a preliminary list of volunteers and tasks ready to post on the website shortly. This will be a work in progress and will be updated from time to time. Let us know if we left off any names or if you want yours added.
Walt Sweat has agreed to oversee the Fri night Chilli.
Steve Rodnon has agreed to head up the pancake breakfast and to transport thr trailer to the rally site.
Others , like Charlie Rogers, are also volunteering and we appreciate all of you.
We need to know if anyone knows where the cement blocks are being kept that are used for building the large grill rack support for steak grilling. What happened to those? How many were required to build the grill?
Thanks for everyone's interest and assistance. We expect to have a great rally in 2008!

We- need to know if anyone knows where the cement blocks are being kept that are used for building the large grill rack support for steak grilling. What happened to those? How many were required to build the grill? Doug - I talked to Steve Smith Sunday about the contents of the trailer. He remembered the grills being placed in the trailer - along with a lot of other stuff as you've found out - but he said they did not have room then for the blocks and he does not know what happened to them. But the receipt shows that 48 8x8x16 blocks were purchased from Hiawassee Hdwe and Bldg Supply (706-896-3617) for $82.69.

Sunday (last day of rally) when involved in cleanup, I thought there was a person...heavy set woman and boy loading them up in an old open trailer that was attached to a car...This could be a purely false memory...I would say that Karen Mac would know for sure. Sheri

The morning after the cookout it was decided to give away the blocks rather than tote them away for use later, as there was no roonm in the trailer for them.

Hi folks!
This is just a reminder that there is a new GMR update article in the Jan. Centerline issue. -- page six, I believe? Please check that out and let me know your ideas and/or if you would like to volunteer.
Already we have about $2500 worth of door prizes and expect more.
Please consider pre-registering. You can now do that online through our website links! Knowing more about attendance in advance would help us plan meals, rally packets, T-shirts, --- most everything.
This should be an excellent rally --- I bet the rain even holds off!!
Thanks,
Rallymeister

I clicked on the "Rally Registration" button and am presented with a form that says "Do not submit this form until you have paid the registration fee through our BMWMOGA Store."
butt..... I can't find the Store.
(of course, half the time i can't find my ass with both hands, even though it's big.....) ;)

Ian,
Click on the join or renew membership and then read where it says if you are new click "here' or if you are renewing click "here". click to on the second "here" and it will take you to the store where you can shop away.
BTW, one hand at a time is sufficient:)

LOL! I've just corrected that oversight. There is now a link to the Store from that form page. Sorry!:D

You know, many people tell me that my head is where the sun don't shine, but I don't see any "Join or Renew Membership" link.
I do see a "Membership Application" link and the resulting page has a text link that takes you to the Store Front.
IMO, that's going to trip up non-members who wish to attend, since it will not dawn on them to click a link that says join the club.
Is there a way to make the Rally Registration button go to the store, and then put some type of very noticeable text on the store receipt that can link to the Rally Registration form?
Ian
btw => the MOA is working on helping chartered clubs use its on-line system for local rally registration, but all the parts and pieces are not in place yet.

Yes, abbasolutely! I only made it go to the form first because the PDF form for registering is where that button used to take you.
Give me a moment.....

btw => the MOA is working on helping chartered clubs use its on-line system for local rally registration, but all the parts and pieces are not in place yet. Good to know. But when/if the parts and pieces do get assembled, we might not want to use it after all the work that Phil has done on building the store front. Additionally I'm spending a fair amount of time trying to integrate PayPal, QuickBooks, our club bank accounts and Gmail. It has become one of those "Is mechanization worth the effort?" issues. And the jury is still out....:)

most definitely.
and, fwiw, i am not totally overwhelmed with the application that the MOA has. you can try it out by registering for the National on-line when they open it in April.
the only advantages i see are that it takes all credit cards, and does most of the back-end work you describe.
but, fwiw, it's much better to have our own process that fits us best. and if we were to pay to have this done, we'd be pays tens of thousands of dollars.
great job, you guys.

I tried to chase electrons last month but then got ole fashioned and printed out my registration and mailed it to the Rally Queen and got an email thanking me for the check. So it still works like that for those virtually challenged like me.

Hmmm, I didn't get a thank you note when I handed over a check at the December meeting and I was wondering when we might receive our membership cards.

Hi folks!
This is just a reminder that there is a new GMR update article in the March Centerline issue. Please check that out and let me know your ideas and/or if you would like to volunteer.
Already we have about $10,000 worth of door prizes and expect more.
We have about 18 vendors so far including one food vendor (BBQ).
Please consider pre-registering. You can now do that online through our website links! Knowing more about attendance in advance would help us plan meals, rally packets, T-shirts, --- most everything.
This should be an excellent rally with some excellent volunteer help.
We plan to post some schedules for registration and store help sign-up slots soon.
Thanks,
Rallymeister

Please go to the "volunteer" part of the website and take a look at the schedule we are developing for registration and rally store. There are open slots, and we really probably need a third person for the ones that have already been signed up for. Please let us know if you can volunteer to help with these critical tasks, and what time(s) you prefer to work.
Thank you all for your participation and assistance.

I had to look too. Go back to the main website and click on the GMR link to the left. You'll see a bunch of marbles with titles in them one of which is called Volunteers (last one on the right I think). Click on that and you can see what's needed. Then you send the rallymaster an email where you wanna work.

Thanks, Dave.
Yes the ad turned out pretty good. Let's hope some folks see it!!
They allow us to run one in Black-and -White without extra charge, but color is very costly. I think it looks fine in B&W, especially considering the savings!
The rally is almost here!! Sign up now to help out! We still need some volunteers. Coffee team needs help. Roy Fant neds a helper for boiled peanut duty (Ummm). --Check the schedule on the website.
And don't forget to send in your registration. We can still accept some pre-registrations, and that qualifies you for the Kermit Chair prize drawing.
Latest Vendor confirmation is HELD gloves! They plan to be there!
Thanks , everyone,
dp
PS-- Andrea and Dave C. say no rain this year!

Not sure we can be there so can't volunteer to help, very sorry.
One thing is for sure, if we do register in advance it will rain, guaranteed. We have a pretty poor track record. We'll register at the gate. This way you all can have sunshine ;)

Volunteers that wish to come up and help prior to rally can camp free Wed and Thurs nights before the rally. However, I must know who is coming and have their names on a list for BM management. Also, there is a limit to the number that we can have there with no camping fees imposed, so please let me know soon. RV's will be charged a fee of $15 per night.
If you want to come up and help out and camp, please let me know when and who...
Note: RV's in general, during the rally, will be charged an additional fee of $15 per night, payable directly to Bald Mountain (BM). This is in addition to the rally fee. There are requirements of Bald Mt management.
Thanks,
