Ok folks, the date has been on the calendar and now in the August Centerline indicating a ride to Tellico Plains, Tennessee. Included in the ride will be the Cherohala Skyway. The ride will start in Woodstock Georgia at Exit #7 on Interstate I-575. Exit name Hwy 92 Alabama Road. If your heading north on I-575 get off at Exit #7 and turn right (east) on Hwy 92. A block or two later there will be a quick trip gas station on the left. Meet at the Quick Trip at 7:45 A.M. for an 8:00 A.M. departure time. If you wish to have breakfast before you meet at the Quick Trip there is a Waffle House a couple doors way on the same side of the street. From there we will return to I-575 North and beat a path to Blue Ridge, GA From Blue Ridge north on hwy 5 to McCaysville, TN which picks up hwy 68 to Tellico Plains, TN. Highway 68 is a nice ride as well. In Tellico Plains we will take the Cherohala Skyway east to Robbinsville, NC where we will catch lunch at some mom and pop dinner around 1-2:00 P.M. From Robbinsville we will take US 74 west down to spur 60 back into Blue Ridge. (222 miles from the start and approximately 6 hours riding time when returning into Blue Ridge) From there I plan on going back down to Woodstock . If your interested in joining this ride post a comment or send me an email. For those not familiar with the Cherohala Skyway here is the link

Hi Keith, glad to hear your joining up for the ride. Will see you next sunday. By the way for some odd reason I had arrive at the starting point at 7:45 A.M. A bit of an odd time. Anyone is free to arrive at what ever time their schedule allows. If I get there and find out that folks camped out overnight at the QT just so they could first in line to join the ride I'd be real thrilled. :)

Hello all:

I plan to join you for this ride on Sunday. I have a couple of friends that have bikes but not BMWs. What is the club policy on these riders joining the group ride?

Thanks,

Stuart

Well, I don't know about club policy, but Marvin led us all on a ride a few weeks ago, riding a Suzuki cruiser. I have never been so embarrassed in my life.

:D :D :D

Hi Marvin ......... I'm planning on making a run up Hwy 60 from Gainesville, GA on Sunday morning... to TWO and then continuing on Hwy 60 until it runs into Hwy 68 at McCaysville. What time do you think I need to look for you folks in McCaysville? ........

Bill, I just looked at the route and it is approx. 1 hour 45 minutes from Woodstock. So if we leave at 8 we would be into McCaysville just before 10:00 AM. I'm just going from memory coming into the downtown area there is railroad tracks and a river to cross just before the intersection of Hwy 5, Hwy 68 and Hwy 60 come together. On the right before getting to that intersection is a gas station if you want to meet there or any alternate ideas you have as well. Let me know if that time frame and location works for your plans.

Stuart,
We would be glad to have you along on the ride as well as your non-BMW riding friends. If your friends aren’t club members and think they had a good time on the ride and want to participate more then they should officially join with an application and club dues. So I hope your still planning on joining the ride. As far as other brand bikes on the ride we do like to keep our distance when we are on the BMW's. Just joking. Bring them and introduce them and we will have a good time. I do wish I had a picuture of me on the suzuki cruiser leading all those BMW's. I should have detoured about the Harley Davidson dealer down the street and motored through the parking lot. Oh well. See you on the ride.

Hi Marvin ......... That's the Conoco Station on the right just before the intersection of Hwy 68 and Hwy 60. I'll be there at 9:30 am in case you're running early. Looking forward to the ride.

Thanks guys for joining the ride..I had a great time. I believe there were 13 of us including myself. The heat did kick up a notch or two the last 2 hours of the trip..mercy. Makes me want one of those low thirtys riding days.
