It's on the "calendar" section of the Forum. Please see below:

The August Club Meeting will be at 11 am in Shelter #1 at Moccasin Creek State Park on Lake Burton, which is between Helen and Clayton, GA. The coordinates are N34 50.709 W83 35.348. Don’t forget to JOIN US THIS Sunday at Moccasin Creek Park State Park for the club meeting/steak luncheon. The meeting starts at 11:00 AM and lunch will follow. For all of you who were rally volunteers, please wear your 2006 GMR volunteer T-shirt. Please bring a utensil from home to flip your steak, because you’ll be cooking your own.

Thanks to all who supported our club by attending this month's meeting. I feel that good participation in club meetings is paramount to a club that is going to prosper. We need to have a quorum at every meeting so businees can be conducted when needed. We can't expect our board to make all our decisions and us have any say so in the direction the club takes. I hope my invitation to discuss GMR issues was productive, and I hope our new members will take notice and understand that issues of importance to all are supposed to be discussed in this open forum. We all enjoy riding our M/C's but if we care about "our" club we must share our feelings in a facilitated discussion if we are to grow and prosper.

Thanks to Jim Hawks for being the only board member present and taking on the "heat" all alone. I know Jim is trying hard to make things work for us and I know he would like more feedback and ideas rather than having to do all the "thinking out of the box" alone. I agree whole heartidly that we need to set budgets and have accountability whenever we spend the club's money.

Thanks to Mac McEnheimer for trying so hard and succeeding in bringing us a great rally in '06. Of course we want to thank Karen (Ms. Mac) for all her efforts as well. As I understand it the primary objective for the Rally Chair is to ensure all the rally goers get a lot of bang for their buck. I certainly think Mac far exceeded with his efforts. I fully enjoyed the rally, even as I worked, and I heard nothing but good things from our guests. Hopefully we can all work together to ensure we have just as good a rally next year, but are able to take the "lessons learned" from '06 and cut some of the costs to keep us out of the red.

Besides the club meeting, which was the primary reason for the ride, Sunday was a great day for riding. After the meeting Paula and I rode on up to the Nantahala River on a fact finding mission for white water rafting. A group of our friends from the hospital where Paula works is wanting to take a trip up there to try some rafting. We left home at 7:30 attended the club meeting, traveled to the Nantahala, and then headed home. We hit rain a couple of time while in NC but by the time we got back in GA the weather was clear. Total mileage for the day was 520. Smiles were continuous:D

Ride Safely,
Steve
