Does anyone know of a comparision between HID/LED aux driving lights? Trying to decide between Denali, Clearwater or PIAA Cross Country.

Over on bmwlt.com I've seen statements that the LED are nearly as bright as HID but not quite. One person had even recomended the LED inserts for moto lights which may be an option if you have those. The LED inserts are at Motogear4you (http://motogear4you.com/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=9&products_id=200&osCsid=30536cb257c2f4d06cf23cc7784752f9).
I'm not sure if this will work, but you might be able to view the thread about LED and HID aux lights here (http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51845&highlight=moto+lights).

I found Clearwater has a Krista version that is more powerful than the Glenda's. Could be a choice. Trying to get more info.

I've had PIAA 910 driving, PIAA 510 Driving and PIAA Cross Country HID.
The Cross Country HID's are nice if you have a concern about power consumption and if you have all night to wait for them to come up to full. They have a relatively narrow beam spead (23° I believe) and they will shoot down the road pretty good. I do a lot of rural riding to/from events in the evening and if you are turning them on and off for on-coming traffic, the HID's are not a good choice. PIAA has a life time warranty on the Cross Country's and it's a good thing cause you'll need it. They have no serviceable parts and when they go out, you are stuck for about 10 days - 2 weeks as you have to send them the failed assembly and wait for them to return the replacment unit back to you.
The 910's are the brightest light - real deer killers but make sure you have a good mounting area and your alternator can handle it. Also, you gotta get used to looking at them. Lots of iron butt riders use these and they are butt ugly.
The 510's are a great middle of the road solution plus they look really cool.
This is what I finnaly ended up with and I'm very happy with them. Good lumen output, instant of-on, look good and only moderately taxing on the alternator.
I have a set of Cross Countries for sale with full harness, switch, relay, etc. - cheap if your interested.
