Hi Folks!
Today Andrea and I went up to Young Harris to the club trailer and unpacked it to do an inventory, then re-packed it in a neater fashion than it was left at the end of the 2009 GMR (everyone was scrambling then). That was a big job , but now it is out of the way, and we were able to get a handle on items we have that we will not need to re-order for the 2010 rally.
Tim Hill was kind enough to meet us there and bring all the signs he has been custodian of for the club. Tim has taken care of putting up and taking down all the signs associated with the rally each yr for a number of years. That has been a large task to handle, and Tim has done an outstanding job of it. We thank him for all his help and for taking care of having such good-looking signs made.
Unfortunately, Tim is turning that task over for someone else to do this yr., so we really need someone to step up and volunteer to be team leader for signage. Tim and I will help explain the signs, the system he developed for putting them up, where they go, etc. to whoever takes on this task.
We also need a good team to help with clean-up of grills, pancake equipment, cooking equipment, and clean-up of grounds, music Hall, etc., in general this year. The teams tend to lose a few helpers toward the end, and we need to be sure we have the man-power needed to finish out those tasks when we are cleaning and packing up the trailer at the conclusion of the rally.
Our volunteers are essential, and are the backbone of the GMR. It is time to step up and help us make the 2010 rally a success. Also, I need to be able to have correct shirt sizes for all volunteers so I can order them in time, so it is important to volunteer now and not wait until the last minute. We need the teams in place for planning purposes also.
